Fear the Quiet One in the Room

Updated: Aug 1, 2020

As you work hard to grow your business and bring in more executives and VCs, you’ll find yourself isolated and alone. As blood money (revenue) grows, so will opposition to you and your judgments. VCs and board members start questioning your ability to lead. They might already have your replacement in mind. Some on your executive team think that they can do your job better. Walls will start closing in on you. People will be plotting to compromise you in every corner.

Remember, you should never fear people who boldly challenge you and loudly speak their minds. There is always someone in the room, who sits quietly in the back and avoids eye contact. That’s the person you need to fear the most.
