Stop Talking!

Updated: Jun 16, 2024

Some entrepreneurs and business leaders have a tendency to speak at the most inopportune moments. They might love to hear themselves talk, but those around them are often annoyed.

The most damage can be done when you volunteer unsolicited input in front of potential customers or investors. Narcissism makes you look foolish, and customers don't buy products from fools, nor do investors throw money at them.

The best time to stay quiet is when you have a burning desire to speak. The more you speak, the more you risk sounding insincere. The depth of one's intellect is measured by the quality and volume of words. Words are like used cars—the more you use them, the cheaper they get.

Insecure business leaders tend to demand attention by drowning others in meaningless jargon.

When in meetings with customers or investors, maintain eye contact, avoid small talk, display a blank expression, ask short questions, listen tentatively and more often than not... shut the fuck up!!!
